    Not anymore. At least not until Apple opens the iPhone as a development platform. IMHO, the exciting possibilities would come from 3rd party software, which they apparently plan to keep out. I think market pressures will eventually force them to open the doors for developers but until then no thanks.

    I think the lack of a physical keyboard will have minimal impact on the success or failure of the iPhone. Consider that millions of users adapted to the clunky text message interfaces of their cell phones. They aren't going to balk at a virtual keyboard, especially when the tradeoff is that you get a much larger screen for viewing video. A consumer that wouldn't buy the phone for lack of a physical keyboard probably isn't in the target market anyway.

    I can't wait to see what they do to the hardware industry. I have had my iPhone for a day and already my macbook pro feels like an arcane instrument. I am so used to touching the screen that a trackpad feels distant and uncontrolled. I really think that what apple did is as big a ui leap as the the mouse. I don't think that multi-touch will stop at handhelds. Here's to hoping they change the cell industry too! (posted from an iPhone)
